Association Montessori Internationale : AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) is a certifying body begun by Maria Montessori to safeguard the integrity of the Montessori movement. They have an international list of AMI certified schools. North American Montessori Teachers Association NAMTA is North American Montessori Teachers’ Association, and the source of many studies, articles and workshops regarding Montessori education. They have a national member school listing. This resource includes info about Tomorrow's Child magazine, a great Montessori magazine resource for parents. Our school is located adjacent to this wonderful nature center, which offers many environmental education events for children and adults of all ages. The Absorbent Mind by Maria Montessori Discusses the development of infants and young children from birth to three years. Gives a clear explanation of the basis of Montessori theory and method. Education and Peace by Maria Montessori Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in both 1951 and 1952, this book illustrates Montessori intense passion and faith in education as a catalyst for peace throughout the world. Maria Montessori: Her Life and Work by E.M. Standing This is a fascinating biography of Dr. Montessori and how she came about organizing her perspective of early childhood. Child of the World Catalogue found at www.MichaelOlaf.net Though a catalogue, this Montessori resource has a running commentary page-to page about how to create a positive environment for the 3- to 12-year-old. Montessori: The Science Behind the Genius by Angeline Lillard, Ph.D This book, published by Oxford Press in 2005, is an excellent look at current scientific research regarding how children best learn and examines the Montessori method through this lens. |
